I fell into the river
One peaceful summer’s day
Whilst gazing upwards at the Sky
My foot it lost its way
A clumsy mistake that it was
I did not come up to harm
But all the fishes in that stream
Were caused a great alarm
I fell into a river
The voyeurs that they all laughed
Was that chap unlucky
Or was he acting daft
A quiet day a sudden splash
It caused more than a ripple
If the river had been deeper
The fall could surely cripple
I fell into a river
The ripples soon will cease
The fish will calm themselves down
And then returns the peace
The voyeurs stopped their laughter
One checked I was OK
I went and drank some orange juice
And thought about the day
I fell into a river
And failed to swim or sink
It served a greater purpose
It made me stop and think
I’d gazed up at the heavens
And then became aware
Of God’s wonders and beauty
Today’s a day for prayer
“This is an actual account of what happened to me whilst on holiday with friends in Mansle France on the 15.08.2008.”
The photo is of the actual bridge, with the man fishing in his boat.
